Certified Accountant — Vila Nova de Gaia

Adecco Recruitment is hiring a Certified Accountant for an international client based in Vila Nova de Gaia. Duties • Manage the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial analysis. • Support monthly financial analysis and reporting, performing variance analysis against budgets, forecasts, and prior periods. • Verify and maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger. • Assist in documenting, monitoring, and improving internal controls and accounting processes. • Collaborate with internal and external audit teams, preparing supporting documentation and SOX-compliant walkthroughs. • Help prepare quarterly reports, analyze and correct discrepancies within the ERP system. • Work cross-functionally with business stakeholders, providing cost and profitability analysis to support decision-making. • Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate compensation and maintaining detailed payroll records for compliance with tax laws, labour regulations, and company policies. • Prepare and file local VAT returns and corporate tax accruals and filings. Candidate Profile • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Management. • At least three years of experience in accounting or finance. • Strong knowledge of accounting principles; IFRS knowledge is a plus. • CPA or ACCA qualification preferred. • Experience in an audit firm or SOX compliance environment is advantageous. • Excellent English proficiency (both written and spoken). • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in other Office tools. • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Experience in a publicly listed company is a plus. • Knowledge of Dynamics 365 or OneStream is considered an advantage.
