Senior Accounts Payable Accountant (English Speaker)

A multinational automotive company with a worldwide footprint is setting up a new Regional Shared Service Centre and is seeking a Senior Accounts Payable Accountant to become part of this fresh team. The role involves managing the full cycle of supplier invoices and payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Key responsibilities include: processing supplier invoices and credit notes, preparing and executing payments within deadlines, reconciling supplier accounts and resolving discrepancies, handling invoice disputes, participating in month-end closing activities, assessing and mitigating financial risks, ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulations, supporting process improvements, assisting the AP Tower Lead with governance and KPI reporting, contributing to the migration of processes from European entities to the SSC in Porto, and training team members. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a professional certification (e.g., CC) considered a plus. They should have 5 to 7 years of accounting experience, with substantial exposure to Accounts Payable, and a deep understanding of accounting principles. Strong analytical skills to identify process inefficiencies and propose improvements are essential. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are required, along with the ability to travel within Europe for the initial 2-3 months. Experience in an SSC environment and proficiency in additional European languages (such as French, Dutch, German, Polish, Spanish, or Irish English) are advantageous.
